Let me let you in on a little secret … your groom-to-be has thought about it more than once. In fact Brides magazine recently reported that the honeymoon is the number one item that men care about when planning a wedding. Numero uno!
I’m here today to tell you that regardless of your honeymoon budget, you can plan your dream honeymoon, and knock your man’s socks off in the process. It might take some work, a lot of research, and a little finagling, but you can plan a honeymoon on ANY budget.
We’d love to help you plan your ideal honeymoon Image may be NSFW.

Here are 5 steps to show you how:
1.Consider the Location: If you’re looking to save some serious dough, the first step is to consider the honeymoon location. Often getting to your destination can eat up a large part of your budget. If you’re willing, think local, or at least within driving distance. When you’re lucky enough to be located within a 1/2 day’s drive of the coast, the mountains, or another natural feature, you’ve likely got a destination that will be home to some swoon-worthy resorts and accommodations perfect for a honeymoon.
2. Flight Choices: If you’re really wanting to get somewhere a little more exotic and would like to get outside of the continental 48, location is still important. In general, the shorter the plane trip, the cheaper the ticket. So if you’re west-coaster, Hawaii may be a better idea, while the east-coasters may be better suited for the Caribbean islands. The Maya Riviera area of Mexico is always a great choice, with easy access from most areas of the country. If you’re located near an international airport, check where you can fly to in a single direct flight. You’re going to save money if you don’t have to make a connection.
3. Length of Stay: Nobody wants to feel rushed on their honeymoon, but with work schedules today it might be that you can only take a long weekend for now. That’s fine! Save that money and take that 10-day trip you dreamed about on your 1st anniversary. By staying a fewer number of nights, you’ll be able to book accommodations that might have been out of reach for your budget on a longer stay. When given the choice I’d suggest booking a higher star resort for a shorter period of time, rather then sacrificing luxury and amenities for a longer trip.

4. Consider Your Interests: What is your ideal day on your honeymoon? Are you relaxing by the beach sipping a mimosa? Or are you on an eco-tourism adventure, flying through the rainforest on a zip-line. By thinking about your goals for your honeymoon, you’ll be able to make a better determination as to whether an all-inclusive resort would be a good choice for you. All-inclusives include all of your food, drinks, accommodations, fees, and on-site activities into one up-front price. If you’re the type of couple that plans to spend the majority of your time on the resort site, taking advantage of the cuisine and activities, then an all-inclusive will be a very budget-friendly option for you. But if you’re more into exploring the island, trying out local beach bars, and will be off-site most of the day, then you’re more suited to stand alone accommodations.
5. Use a Travel Consultant: Gone are the days of travel agents that sit in brick-and-mortar shops on main street with faded pictures of cruise ships on the walls. Today’s travel consultants are virtually based advisors that have an intimate knowledge of locations and accommodations, and also have the connections and know-how to book a trip on any budget. By using a travel consultant you’re going to save yourself hours of precious wedding planning time on the internet, trying to determine which resorts are really as nice as they look in the pictures. It’s easy to feel like you’re getting nowwhere with all of the “specials” and “deals” you’ll find on the web, when really it’s often just a marketing ploy. A travel consultant is going to have your back from the beginning of the planning process, all the way until your return from trip, taking care of any problems that may arise along the way. Most don’t charge any fees for their services, so it’s really a no-brainer to check one more thing off your wedding planning list, and have the honeymoon taken care of!
If you’re just jumping into your honeymoon planning, or you’re bogged down by the number of choices you’ve found, I’d love to help. My services are always free of charge, and I offer a complimentary virtual consultation to make sure we’re a good match. Just fill out our Trip Design Request form and we’ll get started. Happy Honeymooning!
